उत्तराखंड में मानव और वन्यजीवों के बीच संघर्ष उस हद तक पहुंच गया है जहां वनकर्मी की गोली से एक बाघिन की मौत हो गई। घटना गत सोमवार रात की है जब कार्बेट टाइगर रिजर्व से सटे अल्मोड़ा के मरचूला बाजार में एक बाघिन आबादी के बीच पहुंच गई। बाजार में बाघिन दिखने से इलाके में दहशत फैल गई और सूचना मिलने पर फॉरेस्ट गार्ड भी वहां पहुंचे। कई राउंड हवाई फायरिंग के बाद भी जब बाघिन वहां से जंगल में नहीं भागी तो फॉरेस्ट गार्ड धीरज सिंह ने 12 बोर की बंदूक से जमीन पर फायर किये। इस फायरिंग के दौरान घायल होने बाघिन की मौत हो गई।
घटना के बाद वन विभाग हवाई फायरिंग में छर्रे लगने से बाघिन की मौत की बात कह रहा था। लेकिन घटना के वीडियो सामने आए तो वन विभाग को फॉरेस्ट गार्ड की गोली से बाघिन की मौत की बात स्वीकार करनी पड़ी।
वन विभाग का कहना है कि जब नौ राउंड हवाई फायरिंग के बाद भी बाघिन जंगल की ओर भागने की बजाय घरों व दुकानों में घुसने का प्रयास कर रही थी और काफी हिंसक हो गई तो लोगों की सुरक्षा के लिए फॉरेस्ट गार्ड धीरज सिंह ने 12 बोर की बंदूक से दो राउंड जमीन पर फायरिंग की। इस दौरान एक फायर के छर्रे बाघिन की दायीं जांघ में लगने के कारण काफी खून निकलने से उसकी मौत हो गई।
इस मामले में प्राथमिक जांच के आधार पर फॉरेस्ट गार्ड धीरज सिंह के खिलाफ वन्यजीव संरक्षण अधिनियम के तहत केस दर्ज कर उसे रेंज कार्यालय से अटैच कर दिया है। डीएफओ कालागढ़ को पूरे प्रकरण की जांच सौंपी गई है। पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट में छर्रे लगने से रक्तस्राव के अलावा बाघिन के शरीर में सेही का एक कांटा भी मिला। जिसकी वजह से उसका लीवर भी संक्रमित हो गया था।
वनकर्मी की गोली से बाघिन की मौत को लेकर वन विभाग की कार्यप्रणाली पर भी सवाल उठ रहे हैं। पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, बाघिन का पेट और आंत पूरी तरह खाली था। संभवत: वह भोजन की तलाश में भटकते हुए मरचूला बाजार तक पहुंच गई थी। देखने से ही काफी कमजोर नजर आ रही बाघिन को वनकर्मी की गोली का शिकार होना पड़ा जबकि ऐसी परिस्थितियों ट्रैंकुलाइजर गन या किसी अन्य तरीके से उसे काबू में लाने का प्रयास होना चाहिए था। फिर जिस तरह वन विभाग ने इस प्रकरण पर लिपापोती का प्रयास किया उस पर भी सवाल उठ रहे हैं।
बाघिन की मौत से कार्बेट टाइगर रिजर्व में बाघों की बढ़ती तादाद को लेकर भी चिंताएं व्यक्त की जा रही हैं। फिलहाल कार्बेट टाइगर रिजर्व में 250 से ऊपर बाघ हैं। क्षेत्रफल के लिहाज से यह बाघों की काफी अधिक संख्या है जिसके कारण उनके सामने भोजन का संकट पैदा हो सकता है।
