NCOL to create global organic brand with Indian farmers’ produce: Amit Shah

In a significant step towards promoting organic farming and supporting Indian farmers, the National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL) has been established to create a global organic brand with the produce from Indian farmers.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, addressed the National Symposium on ‘Promotion of Organic Products through Cooperatives’ organized by NCOL in New Delhi today. Shah launched the logo, website, and brochure of NCOL and also distributed membership certificates to NCOL members.

Speaking at the event, Shah said that natural farming is one of the many goals set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the year of Amrit Mahotsav for building a self-reliant India. He emphasized that the goal of taking natural farming above 50 percent in India cannot be achieved without a multidimensional approach.

Shah highlighted the importance of NCOL in providing a platform to all farmers engaged in natural farming across the country and making arrangements for marketing of their products. He said that Bharat Organics, the brand launched by NCOL, will become the most trusted and biggest brand not only in India but also in the global organic market.

Shah also mentioned that the government has decided to ensure that 50% of the price received above the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for organic products will be deposited directly into the farmer’s bank account on per kilogram basis.

The Minister of Cooperation requested Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs), and progressive farmers across the country to associate with NCOL, strengthen the ‘Bharat Brand,’ and make themselves prosperous through this brand.

He said that the launch of NCOL is a major step towards achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a healthy and prosperous India. By promoting organic farming and empowering farmers, NCOL will contribute to the overall well-being of the country.
