Innovative Technology for Sustainability in Coffee Production

Scalene Livprotec, a technology innovations company, unveiled its next-generation Lignocellulosic management of coffee residue and wasted water technology for coffee production. The company’s SERIGAS and Aquatron technologies offer a new approach to transforming coffee waste into energy and recovering pure water from coffee mucilage. These solutions were showcased recently at the World Coffee Conference 2023.

SERIGAS is an organic process that converts coffee residue into grid-grade natural gas, which can be used to generate electricity or fuel the coffee drying process. The technology also produces high-grade bio-nutrient and high-alkaloid pest repellent, which can be used to enhance coffee production and control pests.

Aquatron is a patented water recovery technology that utilizes precise frequencies of dissociation to remove impurities from water in its elemental form, providing drinking standard water. The technology can be used to reuse coffee effluent, as well as wastewater from other industries.

Alok Sharma, CEO of Scalene Livprotec, said, “The future of sustainability in the coffee, agriculture, and food processing industry depends on our capacity to recover resources and recycle water efficiently. Through our technology, we aspire to rekindle the enthusiasm for agriculture among today’s youth and strive for absolute sustainability within the agriculture and food processing sectors.”

Scalene Livprotec‘s technologies have already been successfully implemented at Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation Limited in Coorg, India for the last 14 years. The company is now looking to expand the reach of its technology on a global scale.

Coffee production is a resource-intensive process, and it generates a significant amount of waste. As the world pushes towards net zero, current technologies are unable to adequately process organic waste and treat wastewater in a sustainable manner. Scalene Livprotec’s technologies have the potential to make the coffee industry more sustainable, environmentally friendly, and profitable.
