Manduwa and Kutki farmers to get MSP at par with Ragi

In the 24th meeting of the Central Regional Council, it was decided to fix the price of Manduwa (Koda) and Kutki produce at par with the MSP of Ragi. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah chaired the meeting in Narendra Nagar, Uttarakhand

In his address, Amit Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the role of Zonal Councils has transformed from advisory to action platforms. Central Zonal Council’s member states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh have hugely contributed to the country’s GDP and development. Taking an important step towards realizing the Prime Minister’s resolve to make the country’s farmers prosperous, pulses, oilseeds and maize of farmers across the country will be procured 100% at Minimum Support Price (MSP) by NAFED.

Amit Shah also revisited decisions made during previous meetings, such as setting benchmark prices for Kot and Kutki Shri Anna (Minor Millets) produce, officially implemented by the Department of Food and Public Distribution on August 9, 2023. During the 24th meeting, it was resolved to align the prices of Kot and Kutki produce with the MSP of Ragi, a move expected to significantly benefit farmers in the Central Regional Council member states.

In today’s meeting, a decision was taken to get a study done by ICAR to include Lac production in the Revised Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme, this will benefit farmers engaged in Lac production. Under this, Kisan Credit Cards are being issued and this decision will benefit the farmers involved in lac production.

The meeting covered a range of other important topics, including ensuring banking facilities within a 5 km radius of every village, establishing 2 lakh new Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) across the country, addressing royalty and mining-related issues, and creating infrastructure in Left Wing Extremism-affected districts.

Central Regional Council unanimously passed a resolution congratulating all the players with applause for making India proud by winning more than 100 medals for the first time in the Asian Games. The Central Regional Council also welcomed the spectacular success of Chandrayaan 3, the successful conduct of the G20 summit, and the Parliament’s historic passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill.

On the call of the Union Home Minister, the Central Zonal Council unanimously passed a resolution congratulating all the players for winning over 100 medals for the first time in the Asian Games for India and bringing glory to the country. In the meeting, the Central Zonal Council also welcomed the spectacular success of Chandrayaan-3, the successful organization of the G20 Summit and the historic passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill by Parliament.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah concluded by highlighting key priority areas for the member states, such as cooperation, reducing school dropout rates, and tackling malnutrition. He emphasized the shared responsibility of eradicating malnutrition among children and noted the substantial increase in the frequency and resolution of issues discussed in regional council meetings in recent years.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the meeting. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan participated in the meeting through video conferencing. Chhattisgarh Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu and Union Home Secretary, Secretary of Inter-State Council Secretariat, Chief Secretaries of member states and senior officials of state governments and central ministries and departments were also present at the meeting.
