Madhya Pradesh Congress unveils manifesto with focus on farm loan waiver and MSP hike

The Congress party has released its manifesto for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, with a focus on farmers and their issues. The manifesto promises a farm loan waiver up to Rs 2 lakh and an MSP of Rs 2,600 per quintal for wheat and Rs 2,500 per quintal for paddy.

The manifesto, which was released on Tuesday by Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath, also outlines several other benefits for farmers, including free power for 5 HP motor pumps used for irrigation, the waiver of pending electricity dues, and the withdrawal of false cases related to electricity and farm agitations. The manifesto also includes promise to replace old electricity transformers and provide 12 hours of daily electricity for irrigation purposes.

In addition to its farm-related commitments, the manifesto promises a wide range of benefits to different sections of society, including women, government employees, and students. For women, the Congress has promised a monthly assistance of Rs 1,500 and LPG cylinders at Rs 500 each. For youth, the Congress has promised to fill two lakh vacant government posts and provide unemployment allowance of Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 per month for two years.

Other key promises include a health insurance cover of Rs 25 lakh for all residents, 27% reservation for OBCs, free electricity up to 100 units, implementation of the Old Pension Scheme, and the formation of an IPL team for Madhya Pradesh. The manifesto also addresses the hot election topic of a commitment to conduct a comprehensive caste survey.

Elections to the 230-member state assembly are scheduled on November 17.
