Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Telangana, announced the setting up of a National Turmeric Board. He underlined that the National Turmeric Board will focus on value addition to the supply chain and help in infrastructure improvement for the farmers.
“Considering the needs and prospects of turmeric farmers the Central Government has decided to constitute National Turmeric Board for their benefit. This will help farmers in different areas ranging from value addition in the supply chain to infrastructure-related works. I congratulate all the turmeric-growing farmers of Telangana and the country for the formation of the National Turmeric Board, PM Modi said addressing a gathering in Mahabubnagar.
This significant development aims to empower and uplift turmeric farmers, particularly benefiting regions like Nizamabad, Nirmal, and Jagtial, known for their substantial turmeric cultivation. Turmeric finger and bulb varieties are supplied to domestic and commercial markets and exported internationally from this region.
The Prime Minister, today in a reply to a post by Member of Parliament from Nizamabad, Arvind Dharmapuri, regarding the benefits of the establishment of the National Turmeric Board, said that the benefits for Nizamabad are particularly immense, as the district is known for its vast cultivation of turmeric.
The well-being and prosperity of our farmers has always been our top priority.
