aslibharat.com is an agriculture and rural focused news portal which aims to bring voice of farmers and rural communities in public policy making. This initiative is supported by Centre for Agricultural Policy Dialogue (CAPD), an agriculture development think tank based in New Delhi. CAPD is engaging in various research, advocacy and public discussions related to issues affecting farmers, livelihood in rural area and environment. aslibharat.com is the flagship program of CAPD dedicated to bridge the information gap between rural India and mainstream media. It aims to provide useful information to farmers as well as a platform to voice their concerns.

Dr. T. Haque is a well known agricultural economist. Before joining CSD, he was Chairman, Commission for Agricultural Costs of Prices, Govt. of India for over 5 years and ICAR National Fellow/Professor at the National Centre for Agricultural Economics and Policy Research, New Delhi for five years. He served as consultant to several international organizations such as ILO, FAO, AARDO, The World Bank and ICA. He also served as visiting Fellow to IFPRI, U.S.A. Oxford University, U.K. and University of Alberta, Canada. Prof. Haque worked as member/chairman of several professional societies, working groups and advisory boards of Planning Commission, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture, CII, ICAR, NIRD, HIRD and others.

His areas of specialization include Sustainable Agriculture, Food Security, Agricultural Price Policy, Land Reforms, Empowerment of Women and other Informal Economy workers. He has played an important role in influencing policy changes for welfare of farmers and landless labourers through sustain campaign and policy advocacy. Dr. Haque received an award of honour from the Chief Minister of Punjab, for outstanding contribution in Agricultural Development (March 19, 2014).

 

dharDr. Biswajit Dhar

Dr. Biswajit Dhar is Professor at Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Dr. Dhar has been working extensively on the multilateral trading system for more than two decades. He has been nominated by the Government of India as a member of expert groups for providing advice on trade and development strategies. He has been working closely with several inter-governmental organisations including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the Commonwealth Secretariat and the International Trade Centre (ITC).

Dr. Dhar areas of specialization are Trade and development issues; International finance; Intellectual property rights, traditional knowledge protection and sustainable use of biodiversity; Trade and environment; Agriculture. He has been served as Director General of Research and Information System for Developing Countries, New Delhi and Professor & Head at Centre for WTO Studies, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.
